Faith In The Gateway

Welcome to the Faith in the Gateway web site. This site is developing a voice for the Faith sector within the Thames Gateway and is building on the work of the North Kent Community Forum event, ‘Faith in the Gateway 2007’ held at the Thames Gateway Forum in the Excel Centre November, 2007.

The opportunities that the regeneration of the Thames Gateway provide are extensive but often the Faith sector are over looked and are not engaged fully. This site and the proposed future work begins to bring together the sector with the statuary bodies, planners, developers etc so that involvement at a local level is enhanced and that the faith sector are informed sufficiently to ensure that they help develop cohesive and sustainable communities rather than just housing estates.

Our aims are:

• To raise the awareness of the importance and significance of faith within the Thames Gateway
• To commence a creative dialogue with Thames gateway Strategic Partnership, DCLG and delivery partners regarding the role of the faith sector within the Thames Gateway
• To provide an opportunity for key church leaders and faith leaders to begin to understand the extent and impact of the regeneration programme on communities
• To begin to explore and develop the possibility of a Thames Gateway wide Church seminar and resource network
•  To begin to explore and develop the place for a faith sector forum across all parts of the Gateway.

This website will grow to include all sorts of information about the Thames Gateway project, statistics and facts on the Thames Gateway and details of Faith groups within the Gateway.
